What is debt review?

Debt review, also known as debt counseling, is a debt reduction measure used in South Africa to assist customers who are overly indebted in getting out of debt. The mechanism was established by the National Credit Act (NCA) in 2007 to prevent customers from being blacklisted and having to deal with the consequences.

The procedure is suitable for working-class South Africans who are having difficulty making ends meet. Particularly for those who are getting deeper into debt and are unable to make their monthly debt payments. Debt review is a better and more reliable option than debt relief loans, which are often used as short-term fixes or to push people further into debt.
